Tuscan Terroir. Chianti Soul.

Il Molino di Grace is, simply, the taste of Tuscany. Located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, Il Molino di Grace is an alluring and authentic capture of Chianti Classico soil, grapes, climate, tradition and innovation. The winery of Il Molino di Grace – the ‘windmill of grace’ – stands upon 40 hectares of vineyards that have been producing traditional Chianti Classico wines for over 350 years, and is complete with an historic 19th century windmill and world-class sculptures.

The Frank Grace family is a passionate caretaker of this fabled tradition of making critically acclaimed Tuscan wines that celebrate the idyllic marriage of Tuscan terroir and Sangiovese grapes.

THE WINERY

The winery is named after a 19th century historic windmill located on the property near the cantina. However, the viticultural history of the property is much older: the vineyards at Il Molino di Grace have been fruitful for over 350 years.

winemaking

Il Molino di Grace has made every effort to be a "sustainable" winery. For instance, all the fertilizer used on the property is organic. We plow only to the most shallow depths between the rows (maximum of 45 cm) – and that only once every 3 years. And starting in 2008 we will use the cuttings from the vines to fuel the heating and air conditioning in the winery, thus eliminating the use of gas for such purposes. Farming sustainably is a critical part of everything we do. For example, all the fertilizer used on the property is organic. We plow only to the most shallow depths between the rows (maximum of 45 cm) – and that only once every 3 years. We use the cuttings from the vines to fuel the heating and air conditioning in the winery. These are just some of the techniques we utilize in our sustainable approach in both the vineyards and cantina.
